Students and staff were surprised to learn that some of the “top” fitness beliefs they had been following were just the latest craze, proven by science to not be actually true. This included the Himalayan salt scam, where the price can be up to 100 time that of the typical table salt available at your local grocery shop for salt with impurities, to the fitness craze of elevation training masks or electrostimulation devices.
The engaging presenters reminded us that to date, there are no quick fixes, and exercise and proper nutrition are essential to stay fit.
And remember, they admonished the group, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
